Monthly PI/CPC Events
October Events
Hi All,
October is a busy month for us… the summer doldrums are definitely over.
October has 10 events scheduled on the calendar, so I’m going to putting this out a little earlier than usual gives everyone a greater chance to consider volunteering for them. As always, full details are available on our calendar. Please, if there are any errors or omissions, let me know via the comments or e-mail.
Speakers who volunteer will see their names added to the current post below the event they volunteer for. If you are having trouble accessing our blog, contact me please. I will set it straight. Don’t worry, something much better for all is in the works.
I’ll get right to it then:
October 2nd and October 3rd – C.A.L.M. presentation at Archbishop O’Leary High School
These are four individual presentations, two per day, to high school students attending Career And Life Managment classes. It is a PI presentation, with a personal story, followed by a Q&A session. This requires one speaker per event, but honestly, two would be better. Two can mirror this, but the more support we show at the front of the room, the better impact we will make on these children.
October 2nd — Cassandra N is speaker one. Mike R is speaker two.
October 3rd — Cassandra N is speaker one. Julia M is speaker two.
October 10th – U of A Nursing Students
This is a joint CPC/PI presentation with a 1/2 hour power-point presentation followed by a 1/2 hour personal story on recovery. It requires two speakers, one for CPC, and one for PI, and has a Q&A session at the end.
Cheryl R. is speaker one. Peter J. is speaker two.
October 14th – Salvation Army
It is at 10 AM, is an hour PI presentation, and has room for one speaker and two shadows.
October 14th – Blue Jean Round-up Booth Presentation
*Edited* This is a booth presentation, with preferably two persons to attend. One (or both) to speak for approximately 15 minutes beginning at 2:30 PM about the work of our committee, and then staff the booth until 4:30 PM. Start time remains uncertain, and I cannot find a poster online, so arrive with enough time to set up the booth, and all should be well.
October 15th – Impact Edmonton
It begins at 12:30 PM, is a half hour PI presentation, and has room for one speaker and two shadows.
Brian B is speaker. *** Event was cancelled by host ***
October 15th – Elizabeth Fry Foundation
This goes from 1 – 2 PM, and is an hour long PI presentation with room for one speaker and two shadows.
October 23rd – Grant McEwan University Police Students
This is an hour CPC/PI presentation to 45 Police Studies students. It requires a CPC speaker, but would be more effective with two speakers, the other to do PI, with a short Q&A at the end. Full details are on our calendar.
Dave C. is PI speaker. Pat L. is CPC speaker.
October 24th – Alberta Health Services
This begins at 7 PM and goes until 8:30 PM, and is a 15-20 minute PI presentation with room for two speakers and two shadows. ** Apologies to last months speakers. Communication problems with this office have been remedied to the best of my ability. **
Christie N. is speaker one, and Linda C. is speaker two.
*****October 28th – Disctict 61 Gratitude Night*****
This is a booth presentation, with a short 5 minute window to talk to the AA crowd about the work of our committee. It has room for two people, one to do the speaking, and then to staff the booth for the remainder of the evening. Setup between 5:30 – 6:00. Doors open at 6 PM. Our presentation is to be between their evening speakers. Full details on the calendar.
Mike R. and Cassandra N will staff the booth.
October 29th – Impact St.Albert
This is the second Impact presentation this month, but in St.Albert instead. Again, it starts at 12:30 PM, and goes for a half hour. Here again, we need one speaker and two to shadow.
Christie N. is speaker.
Our monthly committee meeting is on the 18th of this month at 6:30 PM at the Alano Club. Please join us. We need more committee members. Also Peter J. is stepping down a our chairperson, so the committee is looking for another to step into the role. If you, or anyone you know are interested, please contact one or either of us for further information.
Thanks, and Happy Hallowe’en!
